Feel-good story from the First Friday Music Club!
How a collaboration between people and businesses worked perfectly!
First Friday Music Club & PLHS Guitar & Mark’s Guitar Exchange & Cordoba Guitars
How the FFMC in collaboration with PLHS Guitar program, Mark’s Guitar Exchange and Cordoba Guitars got 13 acoustic/electric Cordoba guitars for PLHS Guitar class:
The guitars normally cost $489 a piece, so including tax, a total amount of $6,849.67 was needed to purchase the guitars. PLHS Guitar teacher Joshua Anderson and FFMC’s president Glen Fisher have spoken about purchasing those guitars for a while, since the acoustic guitars the kids use can’t be heard during live performances.
On February 27, 2023 Joshua wrote a letter to solicit a donation of 13 Cordoba Guitars to Cordoba. But PLHS needed the guitars NOW- there was a big fundraiser coming up at Humphreys, so time was a factor.
Glen decided to look for donations to the FFMC to purchase the guitars for the school and without hesitation John Malthaner and the Ryan Charitable Foundation donated a total of $7000 on March 1, 2023.
Glen then called his musician friend Mark Augustin, owner of Mark’s Guitar, who coincidentally is an authorized dealer for Cordoba guitars, who contacted Cordoba and got us $100 off each guitar.
Mark’s Guitar ordered the guitars and Mark Augustin personally set up all 13 guitars free of charge.
On March 3, 2023 Glen picked up the guitars and delivered them to PLHS.
…And that’s what we call “things getting done” and a reminder that the old saying that 'it takes a village’ is so true!
